Plus, each interactive Legend of Ponnivala ebook comes with embedded video clips from the animated series. With a tap of the video icon, the page springs to life in high-definition animation. This is a first in Apple’s iBookstore marketplace, and adds a whole new dimension of sight, sound, and colour to the comic books. Videos can be played full-screen, and playing a video pauses the narration, which then picks up where it left off. The embedded video player includes full control of volume and playback (in full-screen mode), and only plays on its native page–once the page turns, the video stops.
Each ebook is extremely light weight. At just under 40 MB, these books download quickly, won’t overtax your iPad’s runtime, load easily, run extremely smoothly, and don’t take up a ton of storage space. The whole first series of 13 ebooks weighs in at about 500 MB, which is surprisingly lean for so many volumes with embedded audio and video.
Book 1: In the Beginning (TAMIL Edition)The Goddess Parvati creates nine farmer-brothers. A Chola king gives them land in Ponnivala. Lord Shiva curses the eldest due to the death of some cows.

Book 2: A Young Orphan (TAMIL Edition)To lessen the impact of his curse, Lord Shiva hides a baby under some stones. Found, the boy is loved. The couple die and the young boy is orphaned.

Book 3: A Long Exile (TAMIL Edition)The orphan is treated badly by clansmen and runs from place to place. He is mistreated by many but summons his courage. He is a survivor.
Book 4: A Love Match (TAMIL Edition)Finally the orphan boy is adopted by a rich farmer where he works as a shepherd. He grows up, then falls in love with the little sister of his masters.
Book 5: A Magical Marriage (TAMIL Edition)Lord Vishnu tells the shepherd orphan he is eligible to marry the girl he loves. They marry but her family banishes them. They leave for ancestral Ponnivala.

Book 6: Roasted Seeds (TAMIL Edition)The young couple reclaim one field from their rival clansmen who try to undercut them by giving them roasted seeds to sow. Lord Vishnu helps them out.
Book 7: A Thousand Beggars (TAMIL Edition)The roasted seeds grow, but there are more tricks. When jewels replace the maize grains, the Queen gives this new wealth to beggars. Lord Vishnu replenishes it.

Book 8: A Cruel Curse (TAMIL Edition)The King and Queen rebuild their palace. At the celebration the Chola monarch gives them honours. But the Queen is barren, and worried about the future.

Book 9: The Counter Curse (TAMIL Edition)The Queen wants to visit her brothers. Against her husband’s advice she goes, and is not well received. In revenge she curses their family.
Book 10: The Pillar of Destruction (TAMIL Edition)The Queen visits the Goddess Kali where her brothers beg forgiveness. She removes the curse. Tamarai is still greatly troubled. Lord Vishnu offers help.

Book 11: A Pilgrim’s Journey (TAMIL Edition)The couple narrowly escape a death plot by crafty artisans and clansmen. The Queen is still barren. Lord Vishnu promises her children in return for many good deeds.
Book 12: The Gates of Heaven (TAMIL Edition)The King and Queen undertake a long pilgrimage and meet with many adventures. The King has to stop. The Queen reaches heaven’s gate alone.
Book 13: The Book of Fate (TAMIL Edition)The Queen undergoes a long penance. Lord Shiva has her die seven times, then places three magical children in her womb. The couple returns home.
